Educated as a civil engineer, Professor Bos has enjoyed a 45 years world-wide professional career and experience in water management in regions where water is used for irrigation and drainage. He has been employed as (international) civil servant and as consultant. Dr Bos has functioned as specialist, project manager and director.

He has published scientific results in a large variety of articles, 9 books and in a Ph.D. thesis. Based on this work, professor Bos is an internationally recognised expert on river basin management, the efficiency of irrigation water use, flow control and measurement in canal systems, performance assessment for water resource management, and the concepts of drainage design.
